”The Other Guys” is the new cop film that came out on Friday. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Steve Coogan. The “Other Guys” reviews so far are fairly good. ”The Other Guys” is really good for both Ferrell and Wahlberg considering they have both made some quite bad movies within the last few years. Adam McKay, director of “Anchorman,” “Talledega Nights” and “Stepbrothers,” directed this film.
‘The Other Guys’ has old plot, new faces
Within the movie, after shooting Derek Jeter by accident, a cop (Wahlberg) is given work that he is way too good for. He is reassigned to white collar crime, where he partners up with an awkward geek, Will Ferrell as a forensic accountant. They go to take down a businessman (Steve Coogan) and his plan. It is definitely a comedy. It’s been done before, but every plot has been done. The difference between a movie bombing and a movie doing well is always the actors.
Reviews went really well
So far, the film has a rating of 79 percent good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Ferrell recently starred in “The Goods,” and “Land of the Lost”, both of which got less than 30 percent in their ratings. 32 percent appears to be the most Wahlberg has gotten since 2007 in any film he’s starred in. Critics have said the movie is humorous despite the fact that it is certainly dumb humor. Kurt Loder, on MTV, gave it his seal of approval as a goofy summer comedy film; not exactly a intelligent comedy, but very well executed.
Worth watching it
This could be what you need if you need a goofy comedy. One surmises that with the grim economic forecasts, oil spills, and everything else all of us could probably use a laugh or two.
